Sharm El Sheikh stretches along the coast in separate neighborhoods — Nabq Bay, Sharks Bay, Naama Bay, Hadaba and the Old Market — linked by one main road. Walking between them isn’t realistic, least of all in summer, so a taxi in Sharm El Sheikh quickly becomes part of daily life on holiday: to dinner, to the shops, to a different beach. The only question is which kind.
Pre-booked Taxi Mido vs hailing a taxi on the street
Street taxis are easy to find outside hotels and around Naama Bay, and plenty of visitors use them. The catch is the fare: it’s usually negotiated on the spot, and if you don’t know the going rate, it’s easy to overpay or start the evening with an argument. Taxi Mido works differently:
- Price agreed before the ride. You get the fare on WhatsApp first, so there’s nothing to negotiate when you get in or out.
- Clean, air-conditioned cars. From May to October you’ll be grateful for this within the first minute.
- Drivers who know the hotels. Our local drivers know the right gate, the lobby entrance and the resort roads that confuse newcomers.
- Return rides sorted in advance. Set a pick-up time from the restaurant or the market, so you’re not standing at the roadside at midnight.
- Private ride. Just you and your group, with room for the shopping bags.
Popular taxi rides in Sharm El Sheikh
- Taxi from Naama Bay to the Old Market: the classic evening trip. Browse the spice and souvenir shops, see Al Sahaba Mosque — the large Ottoman-style landmark of Old Sharm — and sit down at one of the cafés.
- Soho Square evenings: dancing fountains, restaurants, bowling and the ice bar in the Sharks Bay / White Knight area, and a favorite with families after sunset.
- Farsha Café in Hadaba: the cliff-top lounge is at its best around sunset. Pair it with a look at the Heavenly Cathedral, the Coptic church nearby, and book your ride back.
- Beaches and malls: a change of beach for the day, a souvenir hunt or a supermarket run for water and snacks.
- Late-night needs: a pharmacy or a hospital at an odd hour. Our WhatsApp is answered 24/7, so message us and we’ll tell you how soon a car can reach you. If it’s a medical emergency, alert your hotel reception at the same time.
